Cause and Effects of Working in High School Essay

Sally is a junior in high school; she works 38 hours, she’s engaged in sports, and is slipping from honor roll. Sally has no personal life due to the fact that she works a job while in high school. It’s a miracle she even gets her homework done sometimes. There are many teenagers in America that have experienced the negative effects from working while in high school such as, no social life, less time spent on homework, and diminished academic success. A personal life is imperative to have in high school; working a job while a high school student creates less time to have one. Some jobs put people on call, so students wouldn’t be able to make plans with their friends due to the fact that they don’t know when they could be called into work. Some jobs put student workers on call, while others just require them to work long hours. The long hours that students are working, make it so that a schedule looks something like: school, work, then home. They eventually will have no time for hanging out with their beloved friends because work consumed their lives. Getting a job in high school could ruin a teen’s personal life. One of the most time consuming things about school is the homework. If a student is willing to come home from work and stay up till 3am trying to get their homework and projects done then they should be fine with a job. But most students like precious sleep. Work would limit a student on the amount of time they had to complete their homework. And if a student doesn’t do their homework then they’re grades will drop. Slipping grades is a big issue for athletic students. If a student has an ‘F’ they become ineligible to play sports. A job would cause a student to fail to complete their homework. A job would eventually cause a student to lose focus on their academics. With already slipping grades, a student with become very unsuccessful with their academics. They’ll have to drop AP and ho nors classes, switch diplomas, and some students may possibly lose scholarships to their dream colleges. Their academic success will diminish with a job. Sally is a key example of a student who was once very excellent at school, but got a job and became below average. The negative effects that harm a high school student’s education are, no personal time, less time spent on homework, and academic struggle.

Vehicle On Board Electronic System Suffer Interference Engineering Essay

As modern engineering is more forward, the demand from clients and vehicle makers to put in Numberss of electrical and electronic systems into cars has dramatically increased. The lifting demand lead to onboard sophisticated electronic control systems in cars to heighten driver comfort and vehicle safety. These systems include Control Area Networks ( CAN ) , Engine Management Systems ( EMS ) , Anti-Lock Braking Systems ( ABS ) , safety systems, communications, Mobile, wireless headsets, amusement systems, assortment of DC motors and accountants. The physical size of most vehicle instruments used are reduced dramatically due to demanding light weight cars for better public presentation. As system goes smaller it becomes more complex with package embedded on electronics. As more systems present big figure of wires need to be installed to link them, therefore increasing the cost of fabricating. To cut down cost and weight all modern vehicles makers are be aftering to travel radio or usage CAN coach multiplex wiring system. Puting big figure of electronic and electrical system on vehicle in little confined infinite is still a job with Electromagnetic Interference ( EMI ) of these systems from interfering with each other doing cross talk ( radiated and conducted emanations ) . If these systems are non controlled decently they may neglect or do terrible jobs, because as an unfortunate all electronics suffer any kind of intervention. Embedded microcontrollers are used in assortment of vehicle systems such as EMS. The two major EMI menaces interior decorators presently concentrating are susceptibleness ( victim of EMI ) and unsusceptibility ( beginning of EMI ) . This appraisal is focused on EMC issues in vehicle electronics chiefly on car engine direction system. hypertext transfer protocol: //www.vehicle-lab.net/Pics/ecu.jpg Fig.1 Developing engineering in modern car industry, computing machines got involved with cars and their engines. Modern engine ‘s operation is now controlled by computing machines ECU ( Engine Control Unit ) which are besides called as EMS ( Engine direction System ) . The EMS controls the maps of the engine and allows a proper direction of the engine ‘s operations utilizing a assortment of detectors. Modern Engine Control Units were introduced due to the technological promotion to implant microprocessors ( CPU ) that were fast adequate to supply a real-time operation. Further promotion of vehicle electronics made EMC a major issue. Engine direction Systems are largely affected by several factors including rough environments. The automotive environment contains several menaces including power transients, wireless frequence intervention ( external and onboard wireless senders and receiving systems ) electrostatic discharge and power line electric and magnetic Fieldss. Fortunately these jobs can be overcome through good EMI design techniques. Due to EMI most modern engines which are controlled by EMS started responding adversely. Some issues were vehicles experienced drawn-out acceleration without drivers purpose, engines cut off or cruise control accelerates the auto beyond drivers control.EMC Issues Associated with EMS:As engineering is rapidly progressing, car makers are seeking to do more safe autos and practically modern vehicles are safer than earlier but still EMI jobs can do some terrible accidents. As autos can travel anyplace interference caused to its onboard electronics is sometimes unpredictable. The few jobs of EMI are electrostatic discharge from worlds, power line Fieldss ( transformers ) , radio frequence unsusceptibility, wayside broadcast, cellular telephone, airfield radio detection and ranging systems, autos ain systems ( chief cause of power transient ) and many more. There is besides major job of EMI which can do to vehicles such as, after an accident vehicle is repaired, when proprietors modify the m by adding extra amusement systems onboard or by external organic structure alterations. If these alterations are done by utilizing devices or systems which are non of EMC criterions this can do extra jobs of EMI by get the better ofing the intervention control steps placed by original vehicle maker. The chief mechanisms that produce EMI are: – Conductive Emissions: It is generated by exchanging of solenoids in gear box, relays and by commuting of electric motors. These are transient in nature. The emanations are conducted along the wiring harness and spread into the power supply terminuss of onboard electronic systems. These transients get coupled inductively or capacitively into signal leads of assorted systems. Conductive Susceptibility: These high electromotive force transients get superimposed into vehicle power supply of 12v or 24v and can significantly harm the electronic systems of the vehicle. Radiated Emissions: Radiated emanations arise from two beginnings in the vehicle. Conducted transients which are generated by electrical systems which starts breathing radiation since the wiring harness acts as an forward pass. Emissions from electronic systems which involve high velocity logic such as microprocessor circuitry. Harmonicss generated from clock pulsations of 1MHZ or greater which extend over 100MHz. These are either radiated straight from the system ( microprocessor ) or from the wiring harness. Radiated emanations from ignition system besides interfere with other vehicles or with domestic receiving systems. Radiated Susceptibility: Since vehicle in an built-in mode is likely to be a good conducting organic structure as it is subjected to harsh electromagnetic environment onboard and nomadic transceivers. Highest rate of jobs at 20-200MHz set is due to wiring harness and vehicle organic structure itself. The fixed onboard senders around the vehicle produce great sum of power but comparatively less field strength, but nomadic senders are opposite by breathing less power with greater field strengths impacting more on host and next vehicle. Therefore illustrated by citing the undermentioned equation Tocopherol = ( v30PG ) /r v/m Here ‘E ‘ is the field strength in ( v/m ) produced by an aerial with radiated power as ‘P ‘ ( W ) and ‘r ‘ ( m ) is the distance between the beginning and victim. ‘G ‘ is antenna addition. See the instance were pretermiting antenna addition were on-board sender emits radiations on ECU. Assuming distance between the beginning and victim is 1m or less in instance between circuit constituents. The power dissipated is assumed as 10W. The field strength experienced by the vehicle is calculated as E = [ v ( 30*10 ) ] /1 = 17.32 v/m From the above equation its clearly seeable that the field strength is straight relative to radiated power and reciprocally relative to distance between matching constituents. If either distance is reduced and power radiated is more the field strength will be high. Methods to better system public presentation:If EMC issues have to be improved in modern electronics of car, jobs happening in the design procedure of such systems should be controlled and if it is non done in the design procedure it becomes hard and more expensive to manage it subsequently. Although it is impossible to command emanations such as RF intervention, electrostatic discharge, magnetic Fieldss and many other EMI from external beginnings. Merely proper shielding, filtrating and anchoring of such onboard systems could cut down the hazard of intervention on them. Few EMI decrease methods on circuit degree design of electronic systems: Try traveling most of the constituents to PCBA ( Printed Circuit Board Assembly ) and seek good screening techniques on them. Use less noisy constituents in circuit so that it least interfere with each other. Reducing matching between circuits by good physical separation for EMI. Minimizing the land cringle from the circuit back to the power supply and by cut downing the land electric resistance by proper anchoring theoretical account. Using ferrite merchandises as it acts as an absorber of EMI energy by breathing less sum of heat. Reducing capacitive and inductive yoke of microprocessor and other IC ‘s ( incorporate microcontrollers ) by cut downing the rise clip of pulsations as this procedure decreases the higher frequence constituents of the signal by cut downing harmonics. To command noise, the noisy leads should be twisted together as this method will diminish the country of cringle by diminishing magnetic yoke. If shielding could be done on these twisted leads a better solution for the job could be achieved. The leads which are go forthing the shielded country should be filtered every bit good. In autos human body is used as common land, if most of the overseas telegrams are placed near human body it will minimise inductive yoke of wires with other constituents. The length of overseas telegram used in vehicles should ever be kept every bit short as possible because a long overseas telegram will move as an efficient aerial. The leads which are non shielded should be kept every bit short as possible to avoid capacitive yoke. As screening helps to avoid intervention from come ining the constituents circuit, the conducted harmonics can non be to the full shielded. It can be merely eliminated utilizing a filter which will take harmonics without impacting the existent signal. The different types of screening techniques are BLS ( board-level shields ) on PCB ‘s, RF and wire mesh gaskets and many more. Electrically Conductive Elastomers are widely used in autos as it shields from both environment and EMI. These can be custom made or cut into any form required for assortment of applications. These provide screening effectivity up to 120db at 10GHz. Nickel-zinc ferrite merchandises are used extensively in signal line and EMI filtering as overseas telegram nucleuss, bit beads, CAN-Bus choking coils and connection home bases.Testing of vehicle to run into EMC criterions:First proving the vehicles electronic unsusceptibility to radiated Fieldss can be tested by puting the vehicle in a big non-resonant chamber of 10m*10m*5m tallness in a RF ( Radio Frequency ) absorber being 1.5m long and expose it to a frequence scope of 1- 10GHz with radiating field strength of up to 60 v/m. The vehicle is being tested without any driver seated. Inside the trial auto really small as possible testing equipments are being placed to avoid any alteration in response of electronic systems caused by proving equipments. The vehicle is monitored to look into whether ECU or any electronic constituent behaviour is altered at high frequence scope with big field strength. In this trial ECU is connected to spectrum analyzer utilizing ocular fibre overseas telegram to happen out the maximal unsusceptibility degree that the ECU can defy. Spectrum analyser is besides used in proving of EMS and many other electronic microcontrollers. The current absorbed by wiring harness during this trial is more due to less distance from the radiating beginning. Sing vehicle placed at a distance of 20m, the current induced on wiring harness is being scaled up utilizing current injection technique to look into the behaviour of the system at higher effectual field strength. Three different places of aerial are used as sender by puting one in forepart of the trial vehicle and other two on sides. As batch of wiring harness is accumulated at sides and borders of the vehicle the field strength will be significantly greater at these corners. Testing at these corners will be done at big strength for approximately 100v/m for worst instance conditions. Testing vehicle is the accurate manner of look intoing the unsusceptibility of vehicle electronics to radiated field. However more convenient manner is to look into each and every constituent of electronics ( EG: on PCB ‘s ) during the design and fabrication phase as provider of these systems does n't necessitate vehicle to prove each electronic constituents. As most EMI occurs through wiring harness due to built-in yoke. The best method to prove systems unsusceptibility is by BCI ( Bulk Current Injection ) technique. The following testing measure involves mensurating the current absorbed by wiring harness while vehicle is being subjected to radiations of comparatively low field strength of 1v/m. This trial is done at unfastened trial site at a distance of 20m radiating aerial to forestall deformation from close field radiation effects and to subject the vehicle to uniformly distributed field. Different trials for far field strengths are conducted from 1-100v/m over a broad frequence scope utilizing different harnesses and field polarisations. Using BCI as a diagnostic technique in a EMC chamber on a whole vehicle testing degrees at which susceptibleness occurs at each system can be determined. This trial information will be helpful to increase the unsusceptibility of the system by making suited alteration to the needed systems. Assorted standard proving methods such as ISO can be used for both whole vehicle proving and system ( or constituent ) degree proving. Testing method of component degree proving will more frequently extinguish jobs happening at design provinces by doing whole vehicle proving more cost effectual. The major onboard constituents such as CAN Bus web, ECU, EMS, other electronic control systems which control operation of engine will be tested twice on circuit degree and on whole vehicle after its implemented. This would break turn out that system will run into the needed criterions. Thus clip involved in whole vehicle testing will be reduced doing it more immune to rough environments.

Term Paper on Law Questions - Essay Example In that case, a trustor in Florida established a trust with a bank in Delaware had died, leaving her grandchildren as the beneficiaries. Prior to her death, she had lived in Delaware and later moved to Florida, and still performed acts of administration and received some proceeds of the trust. The heirs had filed an action in Florida against the bank in Delaware claiming that the trust should go to the Estate of the deceased. The court held in favor of the heirs, and declared that the money held in the trust should be included in the Estate. While the prior case was pending resolution, the grandchildren had also filed in Delaware an action for determination of distribution of the trust. After determination of the Florida case, the heirs had tried to introduce the decision in their favor in the Delaware case as a bar by res judicata, which was denied by the latter, stating that the Florida court did not have jurisdiction over the bank. Furthermore, the Delaware court held the trust to be valid and in favor of the grandchildren. By appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, both cases were consolidated and the High Court held in favor of the Delaware court, stating that the Florida court could not exercise jurisdiction over a non-resident with only sporadic and inadvertent contacts with that State. The ruling stems from the settled rule that a party may not be called upon to defend an action in a foreign tribunal anent proof that h

Using current and historical examples discuss the interrelations Essay

Using current and historical examples discuss the interrelations existing between global capitalist dynamics, international variations of work and workers agency - Essay Example The incoming research will investigate the existence of global capitalist dynamics, international variations of work and workers agency. The research will prove that global capitalist dynamics have encouraged the transformation of the work and workers agency making it professional. There has been a pressing debate on the importance thresholds of workers, and workers agency in most organizations. Research has established that workers supply variable units of labour time while facing in every period of liquidity constraints. On the other hand, capitalists or owners of the firm do not work for the same model. However, significant amount of debate is centred on the competition part off the job. That is, who receives the job first, how he receives and when does he or she receive the job. While on one side diversity plays a crucial role in bridging the work diversity, it is clear that there are still other competitions in place. Similarly, there is a multitude of theories and research on how capitalists globalization works, who wins and how he wins and who loses as it conquers the globe and transform communities, regions and cities that countries and culture, however there is relatively little theory and research on globalization as a generic phenomenon thought about and even on occasion practiced outside its historical container of globalizing capitalism (Martin, 2010: 604). For that reason, the approach of capitalist globalization is based on the concept of transnational practices, practices that cross boundaries but do not originate with state institutions, actors, and agencies. Doogan (2009, p. 113) believes choice offers as it were the tools with which to construct a series of working hypothesis for keenly contested disagreements between globalization theorists and their opponents. Based on the above, there is a need to focus on debates on whether to what extent does capitalism prevails as a central issue

Business senerio Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Business senerio - Assignment Example The managerial staff at the firm must find alternative solutions to the problem as soon as possible. The morale problems the company faces have escalated into other human resource issues including a lack of communication, interpersonal conflicts, and physical confrontations. The situation has gotten so bad that the employees have stopped caring about their duties and their actions have reached external stakeholders. Recently an employee acted improperly dealing with a customer by yelling at the customer and acting unprofessionally. We have received several complaints from vendors of the company that have not received important paperwork concerning incoming shipments. The company is not suffering from any cash flow problems, but for some odd reason the finance department never pays the bills on time. The quality of the food at the cafeteria has reached an all time low. It seems as if the company is in the middle of chaos. Due to the negative impact that the morale problem is having on the entire organization the company has to take immediate steps to remedy the situation. The first step towards finding a solution is recognizing the existence of the problem to then take corrective actions. As managers we are responsible for the job performance of our subordinates. This matter cannot be delayed any longer because the low morale at the company is spreading like a virus. The majority of the departments at the firm are underperforming and the firm has become an unpleasant place to work. It is important for the company to take this matter seriously because low employee morale usually results in poor productivity and production. The firm has done a poor job at dealing with the situation so far and has let a simple issue turned into a problematic situation. The objective of the meeting is to allow the entire managerial staff to participate in the process of finding a solution to the morale problem. By the end of this meeting

Ecconomics Assignment - To Compleate the assignment required (as attachment). It requiresto compleate a table andamswer a few questions usingdiagrams where nece - Essay Example In perfect competition, equilibrium point is when P=MR=MC. Q2e) Initially the firms increased when the existing firms were earning supernormal profits i.e. when average revenue was greater than average cost. As more and more firms entered the industry the share of profit for each firm started getting less and less and may firms left the industry. Hence in the long run, there will be only enough firms in the market to break-even and a no profit, no loss situation. Q3) The profit maximizing price will be $14 and quantity will be 4 items per minute if the firm is a monopolist. This is the price and quantity because here the monopoly profit is the highest at $32. The monopoly profit is calculated by taking the difference between the TR and TC. The other approach by which we can prove that this is the profit maximizing price and quantity is MR>MC. At quantity 4 items per minute, MR is $8 and MC is $5. Beyond this point, increasing quantity will cause MR to be less than MC and the monopolist wont be maximizing profits. For instance if quantity is increased to 5 items per minute, MC will increase to $6 and MR will decrease to $4 and hence not a profit maximizing condition. Q4c) Over the range of prices between $14 and $16 on average, a 1% reduction in price increases quantity demanded by 2.14%. Since elasticity is greater than 1 at this point, it means that consumers are highly responsive to a change in price and will quickly move to substitutes. Over the range of prices between $6 and $8 on average, a 1% reduction in price increases quantity demanded by 0.46%. Since elasticity is less than 1 at this point, it means price elasticity of demand is inelastic and the consumers are more or less indifferent to changes in price and will not move to substitutes. The price elasticity of Splots at 2.68 shows that Splots has an elastic demand and that consumers are responsive to changes in price. This means that if price of Splots will rise, the quantity

Exelence in public sector Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Exelence in public sector - Essay Example It is necessary to discuss strategies that AbilityOne Commission can adapt to improve their recruitment method and attract qualified candidates. In addition, it is crucial to examine the ability of the proposed plan to improve the performance of workers, enhance funding and determine the value of the project. Prior to making decisions on the best candidate, the agency will have a clear stipulation of job requirements and the qualities of needed for a particular job. In the past, the agency has not provided enough job descriptions. Consequently, there has been insufficient information concerning the rationale of a particular job, its position in the agency, job duties and productivity. A candidate will be required to provide information concerning his proficiency, quality of service and experience. Through this, the agency will attract competent and qualified candidates. The candidates will be evaluated during the recruitment process to establish whether they have the requisite requirements (Shorney, 2014). The procedure of job analysis would enable the agency to review of a particular job. The main objective of this plan is to examine the previous job description, candidate specification and come up with minor changes. It is necessary to change the duties and responsibilities, proficiency and experience to match the evolving environment. In addition, the agency will have to consider whether it is necessary to consider a particular job vacant and define whether it is full-time or part-time. In order to attract competent candidates, the agency will provide existing workers a chance to apply for a vacant position within the organization. Internal recruitment has many advantages. For example, it is morale boosting as it encourages workers to believe that there is room for progression within the agency. In addition, AbilityOne Commission will have additional information on competency and mind-set of an internal candidate and expedite

Greek culture-2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Greek culture-2 - Essay Example er moral or amoral men, is extensive, and even baffling that the authors were able to compact the many sins that mankind would be enticed to commit into single, albeit epic, poetics. There are relationships between the two works, such as the power of Perseus, in Metamorphoses, to turn his enemies to stone; and that of Poseidon coming to the rescue of the Odysseus, turning the threat of the seafaring ship that pursued them to stone. All of these representations speak to the issue of how men conduct themselves in society in ways that demonstrate their responsibility to themselves, and especially in service to others. Each work uses the fulfillment of prophecy to serve as cautionary tales to the reader, to the communities within which the works would be offered and read by; to serve as guidance in the choices that the people of those societies made for themselves. There are instances of loyalty in both works, supporting the population’s sense of loyalty to kingdom (society), and home (family). In the Odyssey, Odysseus is favored by the Gods, but he is dependent upon the loyalty of his mortal men who support him, protect him, and stand with him against the forces of evil. The slaves in his household are loyal to the master, Odysseus, and work to support and protect his household from the suitors who would steal that most precious to Odysseus, his home, wife and property. The social significance of these themes would be no different, really, in ancient societies than they are in modern societies. In order for men and women to prevent chaos, to lead quality lives, it requires loyalty and supporting one another in civic endeavors. To the extent that prophecy was an important and recurring element of ancient literature, is no different than in modern society where ancient, Biblical, and other ancient prophecies (Mayan 2012 calendar); impact the psyche of the population in compelling the population to make moral choices. The ancient myths serve to remind modern

Social grade Essay Example for Free

Social grade Essay After analysing my market research, I have concluded that the social grade of the local area is (B) Lower Management, and the average pay is between   25000 and 35000. The majority of the people do shop locally, the main reason being that the local shops cater for their needs. This shows that there would be a place for me in this local area because there arent any specialised Internet cafes, aimed at social group B. The majority of people surveyed fit into this group, so it makes sense to primarily aim for them, and then the skilled non-manual workers. Planning restrictions Planning restrictions are used to restrict where a business can build or start up. If the government rejects then it would be against the law for the company to build there. Planning restrictions help to protect beautiful nature from being destroyed. They also stop factories from opening near homes. Planning restrictions also help bring businesses into areas where there is high unemployment. From research into local planning restrictions, I have found out that I must get permission for any ballads placed by me near my shop, shutters, extra building at the rear of shop and any structural work. I do not need to worry about the replacement of doors and windows, as my business is a non-listed building. Social effects of my shop Social costs are the costs that the rest of the area must pay because of where a business or factory is situated. There can also be social benefits which means what is gained by the local area from placing a business there. The social costs as a result of where I place my business are increase in litter and my result in local competition closing down. The social benefits from placing my business are that people shop locally, creates one or two extra jobs and helps the local economy. Evaluation The place that I have chosen has more advantages than disadvantages. This is because my shop will be right next to a main road which will allow people to see any promotions, and they will be drawn to the area by a Sainsburys Local. There is also a bus stop a few metres away from my shop which will make it easy to get to my shop. Another major advantage is that there is a bank nearby that has a cash point meaning it is easy to withdraw cash. There is also a college very near to my internet so there is a good chance students will come and chat with friends etc. However, the disadvantage is that there are likely to be computers in the college so it would be more likely they would use it rather than paying for the use of a computer and internet. There are some disadvantages; primarily, there is no dedicated car park, and there are parking restrictions. The main parking restrictions are that there is no parking on certain points between 6pm and 8pm Monday-Friday. The planning restrictions in the local area are not very strict so this will help if I want to make changes to my, business. There are more benefits than costs, the only ones being litter and closing of competition. The major benefit of me placing my shop in the chosen area is that there would be a good chance of more people coming into the local area that would help other local shops. How will I set the price? The price must be right, as people will have to buy large numbers to make profit. The price you charge depends on what you are trying to do. I am selling pastries, tea, coffee etc as well as providing an internet service so I will have a low prices in order to attract a lot of customers and to see if my business will succeed. It is different for me as I dont sell things (apart from pastries, coffee, tea etc) to make a profit; I provide a computer service as my main way of making a profit. My price My price will be as low as possible, so that I can attract the largest amount of customers. I will also have some goods such as pastries, coffee; tea etc at is at high prices because they are unique. I am aiming at social group B. How to price? This is very important, as I must decide how to price the use of the Internet and how to price the food and drinks. Hour based pricing will be the most suitable way to charge the use of the computer and the Internet. The food and drinks will be charged at high price seeing that the social grade of this local area is group B and most of the local area earn i 25000+ so they will be more likely to spend more money. From my first plan, I know my place, my pricing structure and what group I am targeting. After evaluating my first action plan, I have found that I need to cover areas that I missed in my previous plan. . I will be selling food and drink, so each and every product must have a good strong brand that makes it recognisable to people. A very strong brand is Coke a Cola brand, As the colours, shape of cans, and lettering tell the buyer what the product is. The characteristics of the brand come from the products physical features of the product. This means the taste and the shape of the product. The manufacturer through adverts and packaging creates these. What is the aim of advertising? The aims of advertising are to inform people about the Internet cafi , create an image, increase sales, compete with other shops and introduce new products into the market. The aims of my advertising will be to increase sales, compete with other shops and to create an image. Informative advertising Currently, the biggest spender on this form of advertising is the government. This advertising is used to pass on information to the public. The passing on of this information is very important in any advert. Persuasive advertising Their adverts try to persuade the viewer that their products are much better then the competition. Their goal is to attract people to buy their products. There are different types of pervasive advertising. They could be adverts that show a famous person using the product or adverts that compare one product with another. Public relations Public relations are the department that tries to promote the company and shows the good side of the company to the public. Advertising agencies Advertising is a very expensive business; to make sure that the money is well spent they will hire a company to do it right. For an advertising campaign to be successful it must reach the right audience, be attractive and appealing and make the money that the audience cost back in sales. Control over advertising In an advert you cant just put anything in it, there are certain rules. There is a code of practice inside the advertising industry that you must obey. The trade description act, which means that the advert must mean what it, says. I plan to use informative advertising, as I want to inform people of the benefits of buying from my shop. What types of media are there for advertising? There are many different types of advertising, each has advantages, and disadvantages: Television This is a very powerful media to use to get your message across. The advert that is produced will be seen by millions. The time at which your advert is shown effects who see it. If your product is for children then you would show your advert during childrens programmes. You must also take into account the number of people watching, as this will effect the cost. To produce an advert you must take into consideration how many adverts can you afford, as there would be no point in only being able to run your advert once and when will it be shown and is the advert its self correct? The advantages are that television reaches a large audience throughout the country and the adverts can make the product look much better than in print. The disadvantages are that it is extremely expensive. Radio This method of advertising is very similar as television adverting, but it is cheaper and sound is used instead of visual images. In a radio advert a theme tune is used. The disadvantages are that people may switch station when the advert comes on, if there is poor reception then the listener may miss the advert. The advantages are cheaper than television, large audiences can be reached, this type of advertising is very good for local shops and the advert can be repeated many times.

Congestive Cardiac Failure: Signs, Symptoms and Treatment

Congestive Cardiac Failure: Signs, Symptoms and Treatment James Rowe Assessment 2 Mr Wrights admission states that he has heart failure (Congestive Cardiac Failure). Clearly define heart failure. What organs and which body systems are affected by this disorder? CCF is a condition in which the heart doesn’t pump as it should and therefore has an impaired cardiac output. Causes include MI, ischaemic heart disease and cardiomyopathy. Mainly includes heart and lungs due to fluid back up from the left ventricle. However can cause problems throughout the body. (Harris and Nagy et al., 2009) Give a brief overview of the normal function of the body systems affected by this disorder. Digestive à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Aids in the absorption of nutrition. When a person suffers CCF an impaired blood supply is received by the digestive system meaning nutrition imbalance is possible. Also constipation. Circulatory à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   When someone suffers from CCF fluid back up in the ventricle can cause circulation problems. Also the fact that the heart is not pumping as effectively as it should means a poor circulatory system. Repertory à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Fluid back up in the lungs can cause respetory problems. Making it difficult to breath. Also the fluid in the lungs causes impaired gas exchange meaning poor oxygenation of the blood. Renal à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   The renal system is affected because the limited blood supply and poor blood pressure (Before vasoconstriction) mean that there is a poor urine output. This fluid that is normally eliminated from the body builds up as oedema in the limbs. (Hopkins and Cavaiuolo et al., 2008) Define signs and symptoms of heart failure and explain why these signs and symptoms occur. SOB (Dyspnoea) Fluid back up in lungs causing impaired gas exchange Persistent cough/Wheezing (Cough with white or pink sputum) – Due to fluid build up in lungs. Oedema (Back up of fluid) (Legs if right sided/Lung if Left sided) Tiredness/Fatigue (Blood diverted to core so weakness in peripheries caused) Lack of appetite/Nausea (Due to altered blood supply to liver and digestive system) Confusion/Impaired thinking (Lack of oxygenated blood being pumped effectively) Increased heart rate (Heart trying to compensate for low blood flow) Irregular heart beat (Ucsfhealth.org, 2014) Reduced ability to exercise (Due to dyspnoea) Increase need to urinate at night Swelling of the abdomen Hypertension (Blood vessel constrict to increase the BP to increase oxygenation around the body) Chest pain (If caused by heart attack) (Mayoclinic.org, 2014) Orthopnoea (SOB when lying flat) Caused because the heart can’t cope with the excess blood returning to the heart Cardiomegaly – Increased size of the heart muscle due to the compensation of working harder List the information taken on his admission that demonstrates these signs and symptoms. A low SPO ² reading This is because of the decrease of oxygen in the blood. Possibly due to fluid back up in the lungs that is creating impaired gas exchange in the alveoli. Cyanotic – Due to the decrease in oxygen in the blood stream this would make Pt slightly cyanotic Slight confusion – Due to impaired gas exchange there could possibly be a build up of Carbon Dioxide in the blood that would lead to slight confusion in the Pt. Low BP – This could be due to the fact the blood vessels have not yet constricted to increase blood pressure (Blood pressure increase when CCF occurs to increase oxygenation around the body) High pulse The heart is trying to compensate for the low oxygen in the body and is also compensating for the fluid being left in the ventricles. This means it beats faster to try and increase the rate in which the blood travels around the body. Do you think his diabetes is related to his left ulcer and amputated left toe? Explain. The left ulcer may be due to poorly managed diabetes causing neuropathy. This is where the nerve is damaged. People with diabetes have a greatly increased risk of developing neuropathy in the lower extremities. Making the Pt unaware of any trauma or damage to the foot, also because the foot has very little sensation it is often neglected causing ulcers to occur due to the break down in the tissue. (Nfb.org, 2014) Diabetes affects blood supply to the extrematies of the body. This results in the lower portion of the body being deprived of oxygen. In some cases the circulation becomes so bad that the limbs become necrotic and need amputation. Often the first sign of a circulation problem is with the toes. This could be a contributing factor to why the Pt needed a toe amputation. (Netdoctor, 2014) Another possible reason as to why the Pt needed an amputation is because of the high level of uric acid in the blood. Due to the poor circulation the body often does not get blood through the kidneys before a high level of metabolic waste has built up in the blood. This means that high concentration levels of these metabolic waste build up in blood. One of the main metabolic waste is uric acid. This builds up in the blood and crystallises. This then travels to the lowest part of the body. Due to gravity. Often building up in the toes leaving it ischaemic. (Thegoutkiller.com, 2014) One of the medication he is taking is Lasix. What is the action of Lasix? Which body systems are affected by it? Explain why you think Mr Wright is ordered Lasix. (Your answer need only be brief) Lasix (Frusemide) is a drug that helps for fluid and electrolyte balance. The action of Lasix is that it inhibits reabsorption at the loop of Henle in the kidney. This is so that the body is not absorbing the fluid passing through the loop of Henle. The reason why Mr Wright would be ordered an anti-diuretic drug is to prevent his body from absorbing water and thus removing the risk that he will develop an oedema in his legs. (Mckenna, 2010) List three conditions in Mr Wrights medical history that are commonly associated with age. Glaucoma – This is an increased pressure in the optic that can limit blood flow. Therefore the reduced blood flow causes degeneration and vision loss. The pressure also effects the optic nerve so messages from the eye to the brain become impaired. The condition is rare in younger people, but is associated with aging. (Harris and Nagy et al., 2009) Arthritis – Arthritis is an umbrella term used to describe over 100 types of an illness. Arthritis affects the musclo-skeletal system at the point where two joints meet. Symptoms include pain, stiffness and in some cases inflammation. (Arthritisaustralia.com.au, 2014) Constipated – This could be related to the CCF and the body keeping blood supply to the main organs and therefore being a decreased amount of blood going to the digestive tract causing constipation. Using Mr Wrights admission history and assessment, list the factors that may impact his safety whilst in hospital and when he returns home. Confusion Poor Mobility Loss of appetite Poor vision Condition of leg ulcer (On return home) What other health professionals will be involved in his care and what service can they provide for Mr Wright. OT à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Could asses Mr Wright in his mobility and offer him more support than his stick may offer. Such as a 4WW. Social Service à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Could asses Mr Wrights home to see if he needs any more home aids. Could also link Mr Wright into local community through community centres. Asthma Nurse à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Would be used to educate Mr Wright with his asthma condition. Could teach him possible early warning signs of asthma so he knows the early warning signs. Diabetic Nurse à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Education for his diabetes. Could teach Mr Wright ways of managing his diabetic state. Dietician à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Could come up with a diabetic diet plan for Mr Wright therefore reducing the amount of self medication Mr Wright has to do. Cardiologist à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Monitor condition of CCF. List the nursing documentation that you would expect to be used in the care of MR Wright. FBC (Fluid balance chart) à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   For the oedema R/T CCF OBS chart à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Monitor oxygen levels, pulse and resp rate R/T CCF Limb Obs à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Monitor blood flow to lower limbs below the point of trauma to check for blood supply. Medication chart à ¯Ã†â€™Ã‚   Monitor what medication Mr Wright is on R/T CCF and Diabetes. References Arthritisaustralia.com.au. 2014. What is arthritis. Greek Art and Architecture Essays -- essays research papers

Essay #1   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Palace of Knossos, a Minoan mud brick and timber structure on a shallow stone foundation, featuring a central courtyard, was constructed on an acropolis. It was a place for rulers to reside, shrines for religious ceremonies to be worshipped, the industrial production of objects, and administrative duties. Ample hallways, stairways, chambers, and light wells supplemented the ambitiously built structure. There were plenty of columns to mark he four awe inspiring entrance passages.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Four wings, oriented in a north-south direction, surrounded the central courtyard. The east wing featured the residential spaces, a workshop, and a shrine, while the west wing was complete with more shrines, a throne room, storerooms, and a banquet hall. The north wing included a theater area. The south wing featured a separate paved courtyard west of the palace. Inside the Palace of Knossos, plastered walls were painted with color washes. The walls were also decorated with frescos, many of which depicted religious ceremonies.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The Minoans were a people who enjoyed life. Many wine jars were found and it can be noted that women commonly bore their breasts. Long hair and makeup were popular and many festivals and events were held at the 1400 room palace. Nothing was fortified. These people had a love of art, color, and leisure, as depicted in many of the frescos at Knossos.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Minoan art occasionally featured geometric and repetitive forms on walls, floors, and ceilings, but more common were figurative and landscape elements. Often seen were both local and foreign flowers and plants. It is important to mention that no narrative style has been noted and there are no hieroglyphics to decipher the images at Knossos.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  An example of a Minoan fresco at Knossos is the Bull Jumping mural, about 24 1.2† in height. One person holds the horns of a bull while another jumps over the animal. This may have been a sporting event, as bulls were an important image, ad may have been sacrificed. Figures in these Minoan works are much more animated than typical Egyptian examples.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A face of a bull with guilded horns, about 12† tall, was found at Knossos. Created from steatite with shell, rock crystal, and red jasper, a wh... ...igures stands in Athena’s outstretched hand. The shield rests at her side, a sign that war is over, but Athena is still prepared and protective of her city. Athena was the goddess of Athens, but it is still unsure which came first. This statue of the greatly revered Athena stood in her temple to be both revered and to protect her city and its people.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The shield that rests by Athena is highly decorated and given its immense size, the work that went into this project is unimaginable. The inside part shows the gods against the giants, depicted the giants storming Mount Olympus. The amazons are sculpted on the outside of the shield. Even Athena’s sandals have figurative sculpture, this time of Lapiths and Centaurs fighting. Along the base of the statue, golden images of Pandora and witnesses to her birth contrast strongly against a white background.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  There is so much information available architecturally and symbolically on the Parthenon that it is hard to form a concise short description of important points, however, it is because of this knowledge, that scholars have been able to really understand Greek art and architecture.

Essay --

Michael DePalma Ms. Patient English 9-5 3 December 2013 American News Every day millions of Americans across the country watch, listen, and read the news. Many rely on its information presented to them as the truth and not an opinion or lies. This is how people can tell what is going on in the world around them. Sometimes the news is reliable and helpful and sometimes it’s just complete lies. This is not just the weather man got the forecast wrong or the sportscaster predicted wrong for the big game, these are real stories being twisted and mangled from the truth. American news is biased in order to gain higher viewership. News wasn’t of course always on television; but, it has been since television programs were first aired. â€Å"Unlike the 1941 ambitious twice-daily newscast schedule, CBS had more modest expectations for the station in 1944 and only offered one night of live programming a week, doubled to two at the end of the first month. The CBS-TV 15-minute newscast began each night of live programming on the station For the next 4 years, CBS would offer anywhere from two to four newscasts a week, finally settling on a daily format in May 1948. (Tuggle) Much like the audience, CBS’s television department was small in 1944, with the network concentrating most of its resources on the popular and powerful radio side of broadcasting (Conway).† Over time, more and more channels would become news outlets after CBS, the four major networks NBC,ABC, Fox and local channels all jumped in the race to broadcast the news faster than their competitors all in the essence to gain viewership(Conway). Americans get their news from all of the major networks and popular shows such as Today, Good Morning America, and of course local dail... ...ost local TV news programs face heavy competition – typically several shows offering the same product in the same time slots in the same medium – most newspapers have it much easier. My impression, is that most newspapers produce the highest quality journalism they can under the resource constraints they face. The large majority of American newspapers have enjoyed monopolies in their local markets for decades. But are now becoming less and less popular with the internet allowing that information to be free (Zaller). News in America is something that everyone watches to keep informed on the events of that day. From time to time the networks or papers that tell us what happened isn’t always trusted or true, but it is what we have to go on. At the time the news is being presented there no way an average American can fact check it all so all they can do is sit and watch.

Harlem Renaissance :: essays research papers

Harlem Renaissance What is a renaissance? A renaissance is a movement or period of vigorous artistic and intellectual activity. There was a famous renaissance in Europe during the transition from medieval times to modern times that is still taught today. There was, also, a not so well known renaissance that occurred in the United States from the 1920’s to the 1930’s in Manhattan. This renaissance was called â€Å"The New Negro Movement†, but was later called the Harlem Renaissance. During this time, there was an unprecedented outburst of creative activity among African-Americans that occurred in all fields of art. The renaissance started off as a series of literary discussions in lower Manhattan (Greenwich Village) and upper Manhattan (Harlem). Many African-Americans had a considerable impact on modern day arts during this renaissance. Alain LeRoy Locke was considered the leader and chief interpreter of the Harlem Renaissance. His efforts to debunk race-based myths of the inherent intellectual, social, and spiritual inferiority of African-Americans that emerged in the post Reconstruction era are thought to be some of his greatest accomplishments. He sought to destroy commonly held myths through his writings and by identifying, selecting and promoting a talented group of well-educated African-Americans to become leaders and role models in their communities. To achieve greater understanding and harmony between the two races, Locke declared that "...there is a growing realization that in social effort the cooperative basis must supplant long distance philanthropy." This meant he felt that Negro people would have to develop self-sufficiency and no longer rely on seemingly altruistic efforts of other people. Langston Hughes was one of the poets who published many works of literature during this time. He acquired a medal give by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People known as the Spingarn Medal in 1960. With this medal, he joined the ranks of famous African-Americans who spoke out or showed that racism was wrong such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks, and George Washington Carver. Another person who played a role in the Harlem Renaissance was Countee Cullen. At New York University his works attracted critical attention. His first collection of poems, COLOR (1925), was published before he finished college. Countee was a part of the fresh generation of new writers that came out during the renaissance. In 1927, Countee published two more volumes of verse - Copper Sun and The Ballad of the Brown Girl - and edited an anthology of Negro poetry called Caroling Dusk.

Does School Prepare Children for the Real World Essay

â€Å"Getting a good education and make good grades no longer ensures success. † Because these would not merely help us to be a successful professionals. Not all things are being taught in school. Does school prepare children for the real world and ?. but rather the skills and knowledge you are able to apply with your income separates the lower middle class from the wealthy. study hard and get good grades and you will find a high paying job with great benefits for you to attain success in life. education is the foundation of success† â€Å"just as scholastic skills are very important, so are financial and communication skills. † Just as what it is stated, education plays an important role in life. For an individual to be a successful. The author tells us how to achieve success but with very disparate approaches Throughout the book, the author compares both fathers , their principles, ideas, financial practices, and degree of dynamism and how his real father, the poor, struggling but highly educated man, paled against his rich dad in terms of asset building. He compares his poor dad to those people who are perpetually scampering in the Rat Race, helplessly trapped in a vicious cycle of needing more but never able to satisfy their dreams for wealth because of one glaring lack: financial literacy. His rich dad, by contrast, represents the independently wealthy core of society who deliberately takes advantage of the power of corporations and their personal knowledge of tax. The book’s theme reduces to two fundamental concepts: a can-do attitude and fearless entrepreneurship. The author highlights these two concepts by providing multiple examples for each and focusing on the need for financial literacy, how the power of corporations contribute to making the wealthy even wealthier, minding your own business, overcoming obstacles by not fostering laziness, fear, cynicism and other negative attitudes, and recognizing the characteristics of humans and how their preconceived notions and upbringing hamper their financial freedom goals. For most parents today, they are having a hard time keeping their children in chool. But in light of our changing times, as parents, we need to be open to new and bold ideas. â€Å"life is the best lecturer in life† it does not require any moments of an indi Vidual but rather having it’s experiences in life. Some people may think of money that has been involve. But the more money you have it will put you into more depths. Always keep in mind of† knowing how to work for money† not â€Å"knowing how to ma ke money work for you. † â€Å"The more money you get, the more you spend. † If one is able to focus getting jobs that develop these three major skills sets, he is well on their way on the path to success. After sharing these main lessons of the rich, Kiyosaki goes a step further by addressing the 5 main obstacles keeping people from actually following through . first is Fear, Overcoming the fear of losing money. The fear of losing money is real. Everyone has it. The difference becomes how a rich and poor person handles the fear. Wealthy individuals use failure as a teaching moment and aren’t afraid to fail. Second is Cynicism, This deals mostly with those around you. Follow your own path, because at the end of the day, wealthy individuals are a small percentage who go against the grain and don’t follow the crowd. Thirdly is Laziness, One must be willing to put in the time and effort to build up their financial knowledge. This means being selfish and taking time out to build one’s personal wealth. Fourth is the Bad Habits, it is Reducing expenses is easier said than done, but one must be willing to break those bad spending and investing habits in order to be successful. And lastly is the Arrogance, Always be willing to reach out to those who are successful and those you want to emulate. To become wealthy, it’s often a collaborative effort, bouncing ideas from prospective mentors. â€Å"It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power! † it tells us of being a dependent individual. one must determine his/her life. By means of the application of business. Don’t lose hope, and move straight forward for the future ahead. let me give you an example to deeply understand these. Grace was a friend of mine. She was my best friend a long time ago. We had a promise of seeing each other again after 10 years. I’ve remember that she told that she would be a good doctor in a hospital. She always tell me that its her dream to be a doctor. We always spend time with each other saying our ambitions years from now. But years have passed, and life changes. She suddenly told me that she would stop after graduation and her ambition will go to an end because of some family problem. She told that her dream of becoming a doctor has come to an end. But as her best friend I’ve told her not to give up, and pursue her dreams. It must be a trial from god to see her faith and hope for him. And so she started again and start all over. Life is too short, so we must all enjoy what we have. And do even pursue more. â€Å"You’re only poor if you give up. The most important thing is that you did something. Most people only talk and dream of getting rich. You’ve done something. † in life, you must not give up. Every individual experiences a lot of things. Every time you fall, you must stand up. Face the reality. lways keep in mind that f you did something bad or good, you must not give up and not lose hope. Just don’t let it get to the point of hurting someone just for you to have a standard status in life. But as generations have passed, all people are know thinking of how to be rich. Richer in life. â€Å"Winners are not afraid of losing. But losers are. Failure is part of the process of success. People who avoid failure also avoid success. † In our generation today, people know are always taking risk on their fortunes, some of them are gabling on their lives just to let their status in life ranked high. Every individuals always think of having competition with each other. They always want to be called the winner in terms of their competition. So know, things have change as times passes by, they are now afraid of losing in any kinds of competition. But in vice versa. Always keep in mind that every failure is a part of every success of every individual in life. â€Å"The love of money is the root of all evil. † The lack of money is the root of all evil. † We all know that the possession of money by a person makes him/her evil. Every individual who loves money. ill suddenly turn to a bad person when he/ she loves money so much that even he is consequently starts to forget all about his/herself and even his/her family loved ones. When it comes to money, people take their own risk in life. Many people strive hard just to save dollars. Always remember money is a form of power. But what is more powerful is financial education. Money comes and goes, but if you have the education about how money works, you would gain power over it and can begin building wealth. if you want something, work for it. We all wanted thengs to satisfy us. If you’re the kind of person who has no guts, you just give up every time life pushes you. If you’re that kind of person, you’ll live all your life playing it safe, doing the right things, saving yourself for something that never happens. Then, you die a boring old man. Life is the best teacher of all. Most of the time life does not talk to you. It’s just that it all pushes you around. Each push is a life saying there’s something I want to say to you, wake up and face a new life. â€Å"Intelligence solves problems & produces money. Money without financial intelligence is money soon gone. Every individuals have rights to have education. â€Å"Getting a good education and make good grades no longer ensures success. † Because these would not merely help us to be a successful professionals. Not all things are being taught in school. but rather the skills and knowledge you are able to apply with your income separates the lower middle class from the wealthy. study hard and get good grades and you will find a high paying job with great benefits for you to attain success in life. â€Å"education is the foundation of success† â€Å"just as scholastic skills are very important, so are financial and communication skills. Just as what it is stated, education plays an important role in life. For an individual to be a successful. â€Å"Emotions are what make us human. Make us real. The word ’emotion’ stands for energy in motion. Be truthful about your emotions, and use your mind and emotions in your favor, not against yourself. † God created man with his own image and likeness. He created humans all complete. Emotions can served as the principle and aspects in decision making process of an individual. True person can be associated as real, if he/ she has it’s own true feelings and emotions. lways remember to be truthful abouy our emotions and use it in a proper way. â€Å"In school we learn that mistakes are bad, and we are punished for making them. Yet, if you look at the way humans are designed to learn, we learn by making mistakes. We learn to walk by falling down. If we never fell down, we would never walk. † â€Å"education is the foundation of success† â€Å"just as scholastic skills are very important, so are financial and communication skills. † Just as what it is stated, education plays an important role in life. For an individual to be a successful. For most parents today, they are having a hard time keeping their children in school. To combat this, Best Buy must maintain their image as the ‘best shopping experience' retailer with a young, tech as'. N. , knowledgeable sales staff to assist customers and provide customer service unmatchable by Walter. In Ochs 4 addition best buy must maintain a strong, relationship on good terms with its suppliers because they are limited and also offer a price matching policy to match a rice offered by a certain store or retailer. To compete with Amazon. Com Best Buy must promote their brick and mortar, instant gratification business model. Unlike Best B uy, Amazon cannot boast physical, face to face customer service experience improvement to their website and online sales strategy since many consumers are moving towards online purchasing. One of the major risks Best Buy faces currently is the act of show-rooming. This is where customer go to the big box store to gain valuable information from the staff about a product and comparison shop, then go and purchase it elsewhere for a better price (Amazon. Mom). According to CEO Hubert Jolly: â€Å"Best Buy estimates that 1 5 percent of its customers come into the store with the intention of shortcoming, that number is only likely to increase (Macrame, M). † Since Apple is one of Best Buys vendors they must be careful with methods used to compete for customers. One of the main advantages Best Buy has in this situation is that they are actually able to offer their Apple products for a lower price than the Apple Store, while still maintaining strong customer service, warranties, and su pport as one would receive in the Apple store. New Opportunities: Best Buy faces ever rowing fierce competition as the consumer electronics industry continues to grow and new technologies are rapidly being innovated. There is much room for growth and new opportunities Best Buy can take advantage of to remain at the top of the market. One of the most significant threats Best Buy faces is the increasing amount of virtual retail sales in the consumer electronics industry, but this is also an opportunity. The first recommendation for Best Buy is to continuously innovate and improve the website to encourage online sales. Perhaps IT should undergo website redesign to offer easier web navigation/ characteristics similar to that of Amazon. Com. The second recommendation is the need to promote the advantages and benefits of shopping in store rather than at other online retailers like Amazon. Com.Such benefits include direct communication between representative and customer, fewer technologica l issues of ordering, easy returning methods, and the assurance the product will be received in perfect condition and on time rather than damaged or lost in transportation. The third recommendation is to move beyond the current business to consumer model and expand into business to business operations. This would positively increase clientele base and open up a CSS 5 huge new market segment uninhabited by many CE competitors. Next Best Buy needs to reconsider its management structure.Part of the reason for its plummets in sales was poor management style who were reluctant to change company strategy and adapt; they were not ready for competition. Best Buy has made efforts to update management which had a positive outcome. We see in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2013 â€Å"the company reported net earnings of $293 million, compared to a loss of $379 million in the previous period, driven by its reduced costs and improved operational efficiency. The effort of the retailer to i mprove profitability, which includes reorganization of its field and store management structure (Wolf, A). Lastly, Best Buys strengths lie in customer service so the ability to attain strong customer relationships will go far. Some ideas to accomplish this is to provide better employee training to specialize employees to understand the customers wants and needs better. This will help make the employees more knowledgeable to offer more expertise help on particular products and features that other competitors simply cannot offer, which ultimately results in happy customers. When satisfied, the company back to the top as the number one electronics retailer.

Accounting Major Essay

â€Å"Why I chose to major in accounting and what career path I plan to follow. † There are two things in my life that I feel passion for, art and numbers. When I started at Miami Dade College, I always thought that I would study Architecture because even though I loved numbers, I was more inclined to the arts. I wanted to create models and design buildings because it seemed very interesting and it was a way to develop my creative side. So I began to study architecture and I must admit it is a beautiful major. However, a part of me thought that it was not really what I wanted to do. I realized that I was not creative enough and little by little, I started to feel discouraged. At that point, I was convinced that I was going to do better if I majored in anything related to numbers. Anyway, I can develop any artistic interest as a hobby. So I chose to major in Accounting because I can work with numbers which I like. See more: Recruitment and selection process essay Also, it is a practical major because it is concise, but at the same time there is some kind of art involved. The artistic part lies in selecting the information that is relevant to the user and has faithful representation. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) defines accountancy as â€Å"†¦ the art of recording, classifying, and summarizing in a significant manner and in terms of money†¦ transactions and events that are at least partly financial in character, and interpreting the results. I found my perfect combination of numbers and art, even though accounting is more than that. Accounting is the type of major that is everywhere. Every kind of business needs an accountant; a restaurant, a hospital, a retail store. In this type of economy that we live, where everything moves around business, we need someone to take care of tracking the expenses and revenues for us. Accountants give a snapshot of the financial health of a business. At this moment, I am still not sure about the path I plan to follow. I am thinking auditing or taxes. I like auditing because I have to analyze and evaluate processes, products, services, systems, organizations and employees. Also, is a way to help society because I would contribute to ensure compliance with government regulations. I would ensure ethics in every company I give my services. My other option is To master in Taxes.

This idea that there’s no one answer with reagrds to defining critical thinking. Why is it important? I think its important because according to the article that the different disciplines have a different way of looking at critical thinking. This main reason is why the author feels that everyone should discuss this idea of critical thinking on a continuos basis. Having discussions on a continuous basis allows scholars from various disciplines to look at varying perspectives of critical thinking that they wouldn’t otherwise see in their own discipline. On what do you base your assertions regarding its significance? I base my assertions from the different definitions of critical thinking from various scholars from different backgrounds that the author discussed. The implication of the conclusion is the fact that the author is making the assumption that a lot of people don’t understand and/or know how to use the term in general especially in academic literatur e. Problem Areas What potential problems do you see in the author's reasoning? I thinking that the author might be a little bias in making the assumptuion that just because the term critical thinking definition is so broad that most scholars don’t discuss with each other in order to understand the context that theyre using the term. What potential problems are there with the author's use of information? The author doesn’t really show how he determined the various scholar definitions he chose to use in making his various points. You don’t know if his selections were subjective or objective. What point of view is ignored by this author, or has not been considered in dealing with the issue? Summary of Critical Evaluation Would you use the article in support of your own writing? I don’t think I would use this article in my own writing. Why or why not?The reason I wouldn’t use this article because it seems to be a one-sided argument, and the author seems to make a lot of assumptions about what goes on in the academic world in terms of using the word critical thinking. What limitations would you place on its use? The limitations I would place is that the author may have placed too much of his opinion in the article. References Capella University. (n. d. ). Mental Illness and Incarceration Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Mental Illness and Incarceration - Essay Example The case of Bennie Anthony demonstrates how releasing mentally ill criminals back into society failed to protect the public. In the Anthony case less than one month after being released Anthony set fire to his girlfriend's home. This was not an isolated case and the welfare of the criminal himself needs to be considered. For example, as seen in Reid (2006) Tylor attempted to hang himself while in prison and another inmate attempted suicide seventeen times. Had they not been incarcerated at that time and were, instead, free on the streets, there is a high likelihood that their suicide attempts would have been successful. While some people would argue that mentally ill inmates should not be housed with general population criminals, often within the prison system the two classes of criminals are segregated. The narrator of the New Asylums video stated "In Ohio, mentally ill inmates are separated from the prison's general population and housed in mental health units where they can be treated." Since they are separated they are not interacting with the criminals on a regular or daily basis. This segregation of mentally ill inmates, in effect, ensures the protection of both society and the mentally ill inmates while also treating their illnesses. Additionally, the mentally ill who commit crimes do not have mens rea even though they have actually committed a crime. Incarcerating them may not be the most logical or rational decision but our society has by consensus accepted this practice. One reason could be because society feels it is best for us all to have them locked away and provides for the safety of the inmate himself. As Reid states "the primary job of prison administrators is to administer justice, not treatment" (2006 page number), this is accomplished by locking up the mentally ill. Reid further states "Some people commit crimes while they are not thinking rationally" (2006 page number). These people get punished even when they are not thinking in a rational manner. Although this may be a temporary state of mind, it can be compared to the status of mentally ill criminals and confirms the precedent for incarceration of criminals who are mentally ill or not in a rational state of mind at the time of the offence. Many people feel that our criminal justice system has failed to rehabilitate criminals, whether mentally ill or not. However, Fogel as quoted in Reid states that "the purpose of the prison is to confine for a specified period of time, not to rehabilitate the criminal" (2006 page number). The author feels that this inability or unwillingness to rehabilitate criminals becomes more pronounced and evident when the criminals are mentally ill. Not only is there no rehabilitation but often mental health care is inadequate or non existent. Mental Health Administrator, Bridget Benetis admits that keeping the inmates locked up is not going to do any good for them, but she also sees it as necessary. At the facility they have medication, available psychiatrists, and nurses 24 hours a day. She asserts that they are not going to find that level of care at any other place. Another area of concern is that within the prison system there is a possibility that a person who is not mentally ill can develop mental illnesses while incarcerated due to conditions within the prison

World War II Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 2

World War II - Essay Example The article, which features a documentary film â€Å"Touching the Tigers,† focuses on the idea that China was an ally of the United States in WWII, and hopefully seeks to instill the notion that it is so until now. In fact, one of those who were responsible for Beneda’s survival was then military commander Li Zongren, who went on to become President of China in 1949 (Friedersdorf, 2012). The truth of this matter is implied to have been confirmed by Beneda’s widow, Elinor Beneda, who was mentioned in another article (â€Å"Documentary,† 2011). In fact, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries have even wanted everyone to know about such friendship that China fostered with the United States, through Beneda’s story (Friedersdorf, 2012). This is perhaps a political strategy to use World War II anecdotal evidence in order to help neutralize the increasing tension between the United States and China. Nowadays, China opposes U.S. sanctions on Iran (Censky, 2012). Moreover, China complains that the United States has not been particularly open to Chinese investors (Censky, 2012). China has also recently challenged the Philippines, an ally of the United States, in the dispute over who has a right to the Scarborough Shoal (Boot & Kirkpatrick, 2012). These misunderstandings plus the fact that China has been rumored to surpass the U.S. in terms of size of economy in 2016 and the fact that Pres. Obama â€Å"will not stand by when [the United States’] competitors don’t play by the rules† (Censky, 2012). However, the article seems to shed a more positive light on these aforementioned matters. Through the article, as well as through the influence of the documentary film it describes, U.S.-China relations will hopefully end up in a more positive light, or as what Henry Kissinger describes as â€Å"†¦a strong, prosperous, and successful China that plays

Joan Alexandra Molinsky Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Joan Alexandra Molinsky - Essay Example In 1987, however, Rivers life began to spiral downward when her husband, Edgar Rosenberg, committed suicide. This event, combined with a declining career, was the onset of a deep depression for Rivers, as well as the beginnings of bulimia. Rivers states how a devastating loss affects hunger in two ways - erasing it or launch it to new heights. "For me the suicide inspired a gastronomic space program." she claims (Rivers, 1997, p.98). She describes the beginnings of a binge - overeating rich foods until she felt bloated and her clothes became too small - at which point she reached the solution of self-induced vomiting. Occasional purges soon evolved into weekly then twice a day rituals. Rivers timed her purges to happen roughly a half hour after a meal; she realized she must admit the problem to her therapist when she pulled over to vomit in a rest area bathroom. When she finally admitted her bulimia to her therapist Dr. Michael Greenstein, his observation reflects the general state of her life: out of control. Because of this, one of the few things she has been able to control is her bodily intake and output, which has manifested itself in the form of bulimia. Eating disorders are actually psychological disorders and can frequently be triggered by traumatizing events. The proper name of bulimia is Bulimia Nervosa (BN), which translates as "ox hunger", and refers specifically to a binge and purge cycle happening at least twice a week for at least six months. Purging methods include self-induced vomiting, or the abuse of laxatives, diuretics or enemas. Bulimics may also resort to fasting or exhibit obsessive compulsions to exercise. Sufferers often share similar personality traits: they tend towards perfectionism, while retaining a sense of low self-esteem despite their accomplishments. Depression is a frequent contributor to the disorder's development as well. Unfortunately, since the psychology of bulimia is often related to larger emotional issues, both the condition and the original problems complement and augment each other, resulting in a worsening of all symptoms (Eating Disorders, 2005). There are several Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment (CB) methods for BN: such as various behavior, psychodynamic, family, or experiential therapies, or a Twelve-Step program using the disorder as an addiction. CBT is a process by which the patient comes to recognizes the true psychological issues, learn more constructive coping mechanisms in relation to these, and then modify their behavior to return to more acceptable eating patterns while preventing relapses. Anti-depressants frequently help, as they curb the appetite while inhibiting the root depression; different anti-depressants seem to work equally well (Wilson and Pike, 2001). With Dr. Greenstein, Joan Rivers learned to identify her grief of her husband's suicide and was able to return to host a daytime talk show through the years 1989-1993 (Wikkipedia, 2006), the ending of which coincided with the death of her therapist and her returning to live in New York. Her depression was growing worse. The combination of her husband's los s, her talk show ending, a brief Broadway show collapsing and the failure of her jewelry venture

Community Counseling Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Community Counseling - Essay Example An important aspect of modern counseling philosophy is that the clients remain in control of their own treatment program. This is a recognition of the importance of cooperation in the counseling relationship and gives the client a sense of responsibility in there own lives. This freedom of choice for the client increases their stake in the interventions and the outcome. This puts the client in the driver's seat. Counseling emphasizes unconditional positive regard, respect, a safe and caring therapeutic relationship, individual strengths, and taking control over choices. Professional organizations set up accrediting agencies to promote, evaluate, audit, and certify institutions and programs that meet professionally recognized criteria. Programs that meet accreditation standards reassure the university faculty and students that they are being taught the skills that are needed to the current industry acceptable standards. This makes it easier for a student that goes through a CACREP program to be recognized as having the necessary skills and knowledge to pass a certification test. One of the benefits of this program is that you know that you would be going through a well-rounded educational experience. Another benefit is that the program is monitored and set up in a way that has a strategic plan that is oriented for the success of the students. Membership in a professional association and credentialing is an excellent method for the profession to remain ethical and well regulated. It is sometimes easy to forget our ethics and fail to act in the best interest of our clients. Personal gain, self-aggrandizement, and lack of ethical education can all contribute to problems of professionalism. While credentials are a necessary part of career advancement and certification, they should not be used as a substitute for competence and caring. In the counseling profession, the law will occasionally come into conflict with the code of ethics. This means that you may have to violate the law to remain true to your own sense of morality. The counselor must be able to justify their ethical decisions and be prepared to suffer any professional or legal consequences that may arise.
